PLE Video

My personal learning environment can be called organized and systematic, but also unstructured. To describe this environment, I chose to map the environment out through an illustration on a recycled pizza box, creating a video of the process.   Design taught me to push boundaries and that an organized unstructured system is most beneficial for my development and learning environment. My illustration and video display the random organization my mind creates and processes, and the tools I utilize to convey my ideas. I believe in keeping a life balanced with work and play. Play can often inspire creativity in work, and sometimes there is a need to step away from work to get closer to the best solution. The illustration displays programs I use to learn, such as Illustrator, Photoshop, and word. The drawing also displays environments that inspire me, activities I enjoy, and everything in-between (books, vinyl records, etc.).

Work and projects have always involved the design process. The process involves ideation, refinement, digital representation, and the finished product. I wanted to have my ple reflect this with video documentation of the illustration process. Everything I do, work, travel, or play, begins with myself at home. I designed the illustration with home at the center, activities to the right, and learning technologies to the left. While there is flow to the illustration, the randomness of my thoughts is also quite prevalent.

My learning environment includes many technological programs, such as word, excel, and photoshop. Also I learn from various social platforms, media, and websites; such as instagram, the daily show, documentaries, and BBC. My surroundings, activities in which I partake, and my peers and friends influence a lot of my work. Biking, skiing, surfing, and the mountains are just a few of my lifestyle influences. These activities are integral to inspiring and rewarding my creativity and learning. My personal learning environment has progressed and changed over my career, but still consists of an organized chaos comprised of the outdoors, technology, and collaboration.
