Portfolio
Portfolio Overview
During the course of this term I’ve made and kept up a portfolio to showcase the work that I have done in my AAD 250 class and to ultimately show my personal views on art as well as some of the things that I have learned in the process. Professor Huette has done a fantastic job in addressing the fundamental issues that arise when we as students are presented with a piece of art. This in turn, has forced me to think beyond my means to try and derive the true meaning behind each piece. Coming from a background that didn’t view modern art in a very positive light, it has been hard for me to grasp some of the main ideas about some of the topics presented in class. However, as I have dug deeper and deeper into the material I have made huge strides in not only understanding the art pieces, but using them to find out more about myself as well.
This portfolio is targeted towards Professor Huette and my current classmates, as they are the ones who can best relate to all of the topics being covered. However, this does not mean that the material within my posts can only be read by them. This is an open portfolio and can be viewed by anyone interested in learning about art, viewing my progression throughout the term, or even for simple enjoyment reading. Within the content of my posts I have tried writing in a way that most of the audience can relate to and that’s by telling stories. Throughout my posts you will see a lot of stories that portray my past and how I’m currently relating them to the topic at hand. This is the best way I can think of to vividly portray the connections I’m making. By writing these stories and making these connections I hope to widen my knowledge and enhance my thoughts on the issues and subjects surrounding art.
My views may not be agreed upon by everyone and that is the joy of what this class is all about. I have realized that when people challenge my views it provides me with a whole new perspective that I originally wouldn’t have thought of had they agreed with me. Sometimes my views change based on these challenges, which is why I encourage everyone reading to speak up and tell me your input on my posts. My goal is to learn as much as I possibly can and by challenging me in my views you are helping me accomplish that.
Overall the contents of this portfolio will portray the course topics from my cultural point of view, and how each one of my life experiences has made me come to this assumption. Within each discussion you will be able to see what I truly value and why I feel the way I do. This project holds dear to me so I hope you enjoy all that is in this portfolio and take away some valuable insight that you may not have known before you read my material.
