Reflection:
From this process, I learned how important the setting is. Where people are can represent the point in life they’re in, and it can also show major themes of the novel. I really enjoyed writing while focusing on a character like Madame’s perspective. It was interesting to think about the story from her point of view since she sees the clones differently and feels conflicted about them.
I also found searching for multimedia sources really fun. I had to look closely at the locations to figure out the specific feeling they gave me, and then find sources that gave me that same feeling. It was cool to connect music, images, or videos to each place in a way that matched the mood of the novel.
I loved using the Voyant reading tool too. It helped me find insights in the novel that I hadn’t noticed before. By looking at word trends related to what the clones represent and pairing that with Madame, I was able to understand the story better. Voyant made me realize how technology can help with reading and analyzing literature in a new way.
Overall, I really enjoyed the whole project because it was a fun challenge to use all these new computational skills that the class is teaching me. I’m grateful for these skills because with the world getting more and more technological, they could end up being really useful for me in the future.
