Migration crisis threatens the United Kingdom’s position in the EU, 2015

Immigration hit a new high yesterday as a Cabinet minister warned that an ‘uncontrollable wave’ of arrivals could force Britain out of the European Union.

This article published on November 26 2015 in the Daily Mail, discusses the effect that the current immigration crises is having on the upcoming national referendum. To decide whether or not the United Kingdom should remain in, or leave the European Union. This article allows historians to step into the complex reasons why many in the United Kingdom have begun to support a movement for independence from the EU. Many of their reasons have come about as a direct result of the current European immigration crises.

Statements made by the British Prime Minister David Cameron. The Foreign Secretary Phillip Hammond gives voice to the worries of the British public about the rising numbers of immigrants pouring into the UK. Their actions such as taking jobs from the British workforce, and straining the National Health service have caused a large percentage of the British public want to Brexit. The modern term in common use among those wanting to leave the EU. Both however believe that it is possible for the UK to remain in the EU but, require a tangible deal to sway the voters.

This article was written for one of the larger newspapers in the United Kingdom to raise awareness on the issue of how the current immigration crisis is affecting the referendum polls. It is also in this author’s opinion, subtly bias towards the desire for the UK to remain in the EU. Calling the recent poll turns a result of a fear that Europe is losing control of the migration crisis.
