The city of Portland, more commonly known as the City of Roses has a population of around 587,865 and is one of the higher ranked most populous cities in the United States.

Known for the glowing lights of downtown, eclectic shops such as Voodoo Doughnuts, The Trail Blazers and of course the famous ‘Made in Oregon’ sign, there is no doubt that Portland is a unique asset to the Pacific North West.

However it is not simply the tourist attractions or typical accumulation of rain that makes Portland unique. There are also geological elements that throughout history have created the basis of the city we have today. This blog focuses on the different parts of those geological elements through photos and written text.
