The lessons presented here were created or adapted by teachers from the GEOG-ED program.

3D Mapping
This unit is an integrated geography approach to teach geographic thinking about: location, place, region, map reading, and map making.

Seismic Risk Mapping
In this high school physical geography lesson students help develop spatial analysis skills when they learn to classify and map seismic hazards.

Geography in Music
In this middle/ high school lesson, students use lyrics to understand physical geography. They will identify how regions are described and compare regional wind patterns.

A Bird’s Eye View
In this lessons students learn how to view the world from different perspectives. They learn how to describe pattern from aerial photos and Landsat images and how to describe the difference in detail as a result of changing scale.  Zipped Readings

Here Be Pirates
In this lesson, students will create and analyze a choropleth map showing the countries which have been attacked by modern pirates.  Students will use charts and outline maps to create and color a map of a given region, and then they will present their maps to the class.  The class will complete a world choropleth map for a final analysis.
