When do these gendered stereotypes start?

Gender stereotypes start from the moment your born, or even before that! A baby shower is thrown for a little girl and what happens? PINK. Pink happens. Everywhere.

Do our guardians “mold” us into a gender as they raise us? Or do we get a say in what we want and how we want to express ourselves at a young age? For a while, they probably do, whether they are aware of it or not. At such a young age, you don’t have the communication skills to properly express your thoughts and what you want. You also don’t have the brain development to know exactly what you want yet.

So basically, girls are given Barbies, and boys are given G.I. Joes.

As we grow up, we are affected on how we develop gender stereotypes. This happens through family, religion, culture, society, media, etc.

Does this all influence how we identify our own gender?
