The International Humanitarian law is a group of laws that regulates the conduct of war. This law failed due to many reasons. The IHL did not stop the use of violence against others. This menas it cant prevent and protect everyone by armed conflict. Humanitarian law is rules that are supposed to help limit the effects of armed conflict. This easily explains the responsibilities of states and non state armed conflict expectations with armed groups.

In my region of study, Indonesia, there has been a genocide. This is called “The Indonesian Mass Killings of 1965-66” (also known as the Indonesian Genocide). This killing mostly targeted member of the Communist Party of Indonesia. It is estimated that between 500,000 to 1,000,000 were killed from Oct. 1965 and March 1966. To this day many are still healing from the hurt this genocide has caused. People tell stories of spending years in prison without trial and facing discrimination for the rest of their lives.  Human Rights in Indonesia were declared in the 1945 constitution. They were re-organized in an amendment to the constitution in 2000.
