Myanmar's Mangroves under threat after Illegal Charcoal Trades ~ Wikye

One of the many ways culture can be endangered is by the destruction of biodiversity. This is especially relevant to Myanmar, which has been hailed as a “biodiversity hotspot” which is home to a plethora of endangered species and which has long been under attack as the push for economic growth poses risk to native plants and animals that live there. This loss of diversity has been accelerated by the constant political turmoil which fails to allow for organization of protective measures.

Cultural endangerment is also heavily influenced by the rulers of a country. Myanmar was under colonial rule which directly influences the cultures and works to change and shape the country to a more westernized approach, but gaining their freedom the political upheaval between the military government and the Democratic government has had a chance to reshape the way the cultures of Myanmar are today.
