A beautiful and complicated Southeast Asian country, Myanmar (previously Burma) borders many other countries, including China, Thailand, Laos, India, and Bangladesh. Currently in the public spotlight for the recent military coup and changing of government, Myanmar which has often been considered to be behind globally has many internal and external conflicts and is holding center stage with regards to global attention for human rights and democracy. Understanding the struggles Myanmar faces as well as the rich cultural history present is important to broadening the perspective of global politics and community.
