I will be using footnotes frequently throughout this site. This will be done for three primary reasons:
- Footnotes are commonplace in academia 1. At least one major purpose it serves is to provide evidence to any claim you make in your paper2. I will use it for the same purpose and to provide you with the source of my information for your own learning.
- As comedic elements3. Terrible jokes are just part of my repertoire and I want you to be able to appreciate them if you want to or ignore them because they are not funny.
- I have a tendency to ramble on too much4. I’m planning to use footnotes to spare you the effort of sorting through all my thoughts but still giving you the freedom to explore that world if you want. Either way I’ll try to keep it under control5.

- It’s kind of a “stream of consciousness” but it’s more that I get too caught up in my own story and keep thinking of things I want to mention so it becomes this non-linear tale that no one else appreciates but me ↩
