Things Are Getting Real
Almost a month away at the time of posting this. Today is actually 1 year and 11 months since Lindsey and I got engaged1. Both of us are organizers2 so while we’ve been feeling behind on everything we have managed to make a lot of good progress and are in pretty good shape at this point in terms of the overall event. The list of things we have planned and mostly finalized continues to grow.
The List
- Venue
- Photographer
- DJ
- Brides Dress
- Save the dates
- Hotel block
- Lights
- Centerpieces
- Invitations
- Day of wedding planner
- Officiant
- Flowers
- Food and Drink (very important to us)
- Lodging for us over the weekend
- Hydration for our guests
- Bridesmaids and groomsman attire
- Lawn games
- Signage
- Table linens, napkins, etc.
- Extra tables, coolers, tents
- Plane Tickets
“Oh yeah, that part”
Ironically the thing we have probably thought the least about up until this point has been the ceremony itself. We just want to share the moment with our friends and family but haven’t thought as much about what we, and others, may say during the ceremony. Like my engagement proposal, I have a trick or two up my sleeve3 that Lindsey won’t know the full details of for the ceremony but as it should, most all of it will be a joint effort.
Maintaining Focus
As the days count down it has become increasingly important to focus on the important things since we both have a lot going on. We both have races this weekend, which is also serving as a little vacation before we plow through a month of work before taking off for our wedding back home on the East coast. I’ll have a report I need to write along with doing some teaching in the summer amidst my ongoing research. All of which will need to be in a finished/idle state by the time I go. Lindsey has her calendar full at the shoe store4 as well as being the lead on our wedding planning.
Speaking of focus. I need to finish an experiment, go home and walk the dog, and go to a networking event.
- 1. That was in Iceland, a story and trip which I plan to recount soon ↩
- 2. The shear number of lists, documents, spreadsheets, etc. we have stashed away for our wedding is overkill. Fortunately it’s all online so we don’t have stacks of paper cluttering our kitchen table. ↩
- 3. Know that it will have to have some kind of science related to it ↩
- 4. Eugene Running Company ↩
The wedding update is very interesting. Wedding preparations take time & I assumed that a wedding car will also be available for the bride. It is a fact that most wedding parties contact RM chauffeur for Wedding car hire service.
