We look forward to welcoming you to the University of Oregon in Eugene, OR for the 2018 FLTA Summer Orientation. We strongly encourage you to fly into the Eugene, Oregon airport (airport code: EUG). It’s just a 15-minute ride from the Eugene airport to campus! (From the Portland, OR airport, PDX, it’s approximately 3 hours).
Whether you arrive at Eugene or Portland, the University of Oregon has arranged for a free shuttle service to take you from the airport to your hotel, The Phoenix Inn, on Sunday, August 19, 2018. Depending on the time of your arrival, your travel to the hotel will either be via a shuttle from The Phoenix Inn (in Eugene) or a private shuttle (USA Airport Shuttle in Portland).
If you’ve submitted your travel itinerary, you should have received a personal response from Maryne, our travel coordinator, with your shuttle arrangements. If you haven’t submitted this, please do so as soon as possible. This is especially important if you’re flying into Portland.
Please visit the Lodging section of this website for more information about The Phoenix Inn.
For your flight to your host institution on August 23…
If you’re flying East (see institution map), you’ll probably want to schedule an early morning flight. Be sure to re-confirm that flight 24 hours in advance. If you’re leaving from EUG, you can take the airport shuttle from the Phoenix Inn. Please sign up in advance with Maryne. If you’re flying from the Portland airport (PDX), you need to leave Eugene at least 5 hours in advance. Again, be sure to let Maryne know as soon as possible.
For both airports, you might have to leave earlier than planned depending on shuttle availability. Neither the University of Oregon nor IIE will be able to reimburse you for a taxi to the airport. Please work with Maryne on this.
For those leaving by bus or train, please make sure you let us know what your arrangements are. (We don’t want you to get on the wrong shuttle heading to the airport!)
