Through the presentations that were done in our last week of FIG, I was able to realize how much we have learned in this class. It was a good recap of what we have covered and I really did learn a lot at the end of the day. In the first presentation we discussed how growing food is very important now days. Remembering the urban garden field trip, I better now understand how food can be healthier grown. Urban gardening has a lot of benefits to the consumer. Something that was discussed in the first presentation was the importance of buying locally and to cut down of the miles that it took to get to our plates. I am more aware of how this little notion can have a huge impact on the environment. By eating healthier it can help people preform better as well as feel better. I remember in the second presentation one of the girls mentioned a story about her dad and how he is eating from urban gardens and it is helping him fight his battle against cancer. This was one of the reasons I think that FIG has a lot of value as a class. Because it allowed me to learn about artists and how food connects in relation to the students in my class. Having FIG as a small class it allowed me to meet my peers and put their experiences with the material that we were learning. It has given me a different perspective of the world and how as an artist I can better grow food, and consume it.

Thank you for a great term!
