Project Portfolio Description

Sheldon High School’s Transition Education Network (TEN) is a special education program serving students with disabilities in Eugene, Oregon’s 4J school district. This program is designed to promote independence through teaching functional life skills, such as social skills, vocational skills, and community mobility, along with academic skills, like math and language arts. The following project teaches students how to use Google Calendar through a Google Slides presentation and printable Microsoft Word document. During its delivery, all students were able to navigate Google Calendar and input single-day and recurring events. Assistance from the Sheldon TEN staff was an important component to its success as the level of needed support varied greatly between individuals. The materials will be stored in Sheldon TEN’s Google Drive account where it can be accessed and edited for future use. Changes to reflect future dates will be required and the lesson may benefit from additional activities to increase student engagement. The Google Calendar lesson can be used in rotation with previously created calendar curriculum to increase students’ comfortability with online calendar applications and support self-management skills.
