Project Portfolio Description

Hosea Youth Services is on a mission to serve at risk youth and those experiencing homelessness for basic needs while also providing tender love and care. Hosea is a drop-in resource center that provides youth ages 16-24 with many services such as; showers, laundry, hygiene products, clothes, homecooked meals, WIFI, computer/printer access, a safe space and more. Hosea also works at creating healthy adult relationships, providing a caring community, utilizing collaborative relationships with like-minded organizations, and offering comprehensive wraparound services to meet as many needs of every individual youth.

This project is called the Self Build event, the term “self-build” is the title to promote the youth to create the best versions of themselves. The goal of this project is to educate the youth on mental health and self-care. This is a day over the weekend, outside of business hours, for the youth to come in and seek other services that are not offered on a day to day basis directed toward their self-care. These services include haircuts, hair stylings, nail paintings, facemasks, entertaining music, and a positive environment. The more aware they are of their own self-care activities; they can then better assess their own mental health in the future. Implementing one extra day dedicated to the youth to feel more confident in themselves in both their social and professional lives will eventually teach them to remember their self-worth and happiness goals for the future.
