Project Portfolio Description

The Boys & Girls Club of Emerald Valley is a non-profit afterschool program focused on helping underprivileged kids in the greater Eugene area. Since they serve the community, they have lots of members from the community interested in volunteering. This particular Boys & Girls Club is smaller than most and only has a few official staff and do not have a volunteer coordinator. With a lack of volunteer management, and high interest of volunteers, created a gap in services. By not properly educating their volunteers on the functionality of the facility the Boys & Girls Club of Emerald Valley are losing out on utilizing volunteers as key resources for the conservation of the budget, increasing child to staff ratios, and exposing members to positive role models. To improve this gap in services I created a volunteer manual for my senior project. This manual is designed to be like onboarding for volunteers. Within the manual volunteers can find and reference club policies, roles they play as a volunteer, member to volunteer relationship guidelines, and more. The manual will serve as a vital part in the success of volunteers at the Boys & Girls Club of Emerald Valley.
