Project Portfolio Description
Eugene Mission is a homeless recovery center that focuses on getting homeless people off the streets and into housing. At the Eugene Mission, guests have the opportunity to continue their journey in recovering from homelessness through the R3 academy program. R3 stands for Rescue + Restore + Revitalize. Part of the R3 program means to participate in courses and Life Skills while working with a Navigator to set goals in an Individual Action Plan and work towards completing those goals. Before the pandemic, members of the Eugene Mission had access to lots of resources to help them achieve their goals, however, many of these resources had to cut ties with the Eugene Mission in the meantime. Goodwill was one of the agency partner’s that provided resources to guests to help them with job search and more. My goal is to continue to provide extra resources for Eugene Mission guests by developing and implementing a class into the R3 program that is dedicated to helping build necessary skills in job researching. One of the primary factors of homelessness in Lane County is unemployment. Being homeless makes it even more difficult for an individual to get a job. That’s why R3 is a great program for guests at the Mission to receive training and develop their skills. My project adds on to that by providing them resources to help them build a resume, land an interview, and get hired.
