Project Portfolio Description
The Volunteers in Medicine clinic provides free health care services to the low-income, medically underserved population in the greater Lane County area. Due to the services being provided for free, the clinic relies heavily on donations in order to continue operating or making additions to services provided. This project aims to acquire funding for the clinic through a grant to improve the services provided by its behavioral health wing. Acquiring funding via grant is largely beneficial because less patients are able to come into the office and donate due to the COVID-19 pandemic limiting the number of in-office visits. Funding improvements in the behavioral health wing of the clinic will be necessary, as the pandemic will likely have adverse effects on the population’s mental health. In the future, others working on grant proposals should aim to start the application process before Spring in order to have a broader selection of grantors to apply through. While the current grant will be able to fund the improvements and additions to the behavioral health wing, it would be beneficial to have more options to apply for.
