Project Portfolio Description

I am interning at the Harrisburg middle and elementary school with the school counselors. The mission of a school counselor is to guide all students to acquire the necessary skills, knowledge, and attitudes needed to be efficient students, responsible citizens, productive workers, and lifelong learners. The population of clients include all students in the elementary and middle school but especially those lacking in social or academic skills or those who are struggling to get through the school day and need someone to check in with. My senior project will be making videos of what expectations for the students look like. These videos will be shown in a virtual assembly ran in the elementary school. The elementary school is implementing a new PBIS (positive behavior intervention and support) program which lays out specific expectations that can be shown visually to the elementary students through my videos. This was a fun and engaging way to learn about the expectations because they are watching their own classmates act out dos and don’ts. I also created a matrix of each of these expectations in different areas of the school. Staff can hang these up in the classrooms and refer to them when necessary.
