Project Portfolio Description
The Relief Nursery is an organization that works with at risk youth and families to better support their needs through comprehensive family support systems. The Relief Nursery provides services that are easily accessible to low-income parents with children that are at high risk for abuse or neglect which helps to break abusive pattern. Currently the Relief Nursery’s have a goal focused on improving resources to Native Americans and African Americans, as well as making their organizations more accessible to those populations. In response to this goal this project introduced an entirely new section for Native American and Indigenous communities in the Relief Nursery’s Community Resource Guide. This project also contributed to the development and maintenance of the equity and social justice section of the guide. This project has provided a more comprehensive resource guide for providers to share with their clients and for the community. By creating the Native American and indigenous people section, this project has created a more inclusive community resource guide that can now better support those marginalized communities. By researching organizations throughout Lane County and updating resources information within the guide, the guide will be better informed so anyone viewing the guide has the correct up to date information. This project will serve agencies and communities across Lane County, including the Springfield and Eugene Relief Nursery’s by allowing access to different resources in one place. The updated resource guide will now be maintained by Jessie Carpenter, the Workforce Development Director of the Springfield Relief Nursery.
