Project Portfolio Description

The Oregon Folklife Network has a dedication to the preservation of Oregon’s traditional arts and creators, seeking to assist local artists in continuing their craft and spreading awareness about how cultural representation through arts and trades work can benefit communities statewide. This project seeks to improve the feedback collection services for OFN’s Traditional Artist Apprenticeship Program, (TAAP) which serves both master artists and their apprentices in their mentorship journey and assists both parties in showcasing their work. Feedback collection was improved by being transformed from a handwritten statement on the tail end of a document to an online Qualtrics survey, helping the artist clientele provide clearer and more detailed feedback and helping OFN’s staff better collect and analyze said feedback.

The proposal to turn the PDF form into a Qualtrics survey was approved by OFN’s executive director and staff, and the survey was immediately designed and drafted afterward. This year’s TAAP program will finish in July of 2021, after which OFN will offer traditional artists the Qualtrics survey to gather their feedback on the program. Depending on the success and reception of the survey, OFN has their own Qualtrics account designed to save the analytic information and keep the survey itself saved, allowing OFN staff to make necessary adjustments to survey questions or look back on data collected over the years. This account and the TAAP feedback survey is accessible and editable by any and all OFN staff.
