Oregon Department of Human Services

Project Portfolio Description

The Oregon Department of Human Services (ODHS) is an agency which focuses on providing services and resources for at risk individuals and families who are facing extreme poverty. The agency’s mission is to help clients become independent once again through resources that value their identity and empower them in a variety of ways. This project is an informational guide which reviews the client survey process while providing research-based suggestions for better surveying a diverse population of clients. This guide will be shared with ODHS to utilize as the agency works on becoming more trauma informed. This project will also support staff in better connecting and engaging with Spanish-speaking clients to increase their participation in future surveys. Including researched-based suggestions for when culturally adapting client surveys that will support agency in reaching their state-wide vision of promoting safety, health and independence for all Oregonians. For future use, this guide can continue being applied for growth and improvement with future client surveys. This guide also provides the opportunity to be expanded on as more client surveys are performed by the agency.
