Project Portfolio Description
Emergence, a private, not-for-profit agency, makes impacts in communities daily as they work to assist those who are battling addiction in an abundance of ways. Their mission is to “provide comprehensive treatment services that reduce the incidence and prevalence of addiction by providing integrated mental health, substance abuse, and gambling treatment services that promote the health and quality of life of our community members” (“About Emergence”, n.d.). Emergence has locations in Lane, Linn, and Benton counties and anyone who is eligible to access their services regardless of religion, gender, national origin, and etc. While working with their mission in mind, my supervisor and staff members in positions like her are counselors who manage individual, group, and mental health therapies in various combinations that are specific to each client. This project focused on and ultimately increased our clients’ knowledge and overall education on self care and why it is so crucial to one’s overall well-being. In addition, I was able to add a new piece of literature to the agency that will serve as a workbook for our clients. The self care education sessions that were held with our clients at Emergence can easily be implemented into future group lessons and/or activities. The powerpoints can also be used as they are for group lessons or edited slightly to fit the necessary needs and vision of the counselor presenting the lesson.
