Churchill High School College and Career Center

Project Portfolio Description

The College and Career Center at Churchill High School offers students assistance with college applications, scholarship applications, and offers support to complete graduation requirements in a timely manner. They also offer students resources on reaching their career goals after graduation through higher education, technical training programs or resume building. The goal of the center is to support student success and to help students achieve their goals after graduation. Some students need more assistance due to their background creating more barriers than some of their fellow peers. This includes undocumented students; they face many challenges and barriers while applying for scholarships and colleges because of their status. A resource binder was created for undocumented students that will help them navigate through the college and scholarship application process.

The goal was to fill the gap of service that was present at Churchill High School, now there is a bridge of communication to serve an underrepresented population of students. The format of the binder includes QR codes with direct links to resources and websites where students can easily access the information. Since websites are constantly updated, the resources will always be the most current information available to students. Although this research binder was designed to make it sustainable, there is the challenge that policies and laws are constantly changing for this population of students.
