Project Portfolio Description
Community Leaning Program (CLP) is a transitional program for adult students with special needs who are interested in living independently. Through building soft skills and collaborating with job sites for students to gain real experience, graduates of the program demonstrate the tools necessary for the transition into the workforce. The mission of Community Learning Program is to work on the skills necessary to attain a job while fostering self-advocacy so that students have the confidence to fully participate as independent community members. An addition of an alumni network will serve to provide feedback and long-term data for CLP to allow them to adjust their curriculum to fit the needs of the students. Maintaining the follow-up interview process provides CLP the opportunity to potentially advocate for grants and additional district funding to improve their program. Additionally, sustaining the alumni network also creates opportunities for CLP to host social gatherings with alumni to create community time for them. All in all, the alumni network has several future purposes for CLP data retention and community building.
