Willamette Family Treatment Services

Project Portfolio Description

Willamette Family Treatment Services (WFTS) is dedicated to ensure clients have a better tomorrow. By doing so, WFTS provides holistic whole body, mind and wellness services to fill the needs for the client. WFTS is a multi-faceted non-profit that provides treatment for individuals suffering from substance use disorders (SUDs). The Cheshire WFTS Location is a woman’s in-patient residential facility, and has been the primary experience for constructing the following project. Nearly half of the women in the Cheshire Location are parents, and have their children in their care while they are seeking services. The COVID-19 Resource Packet is composed of 21 sections (e.g. “How to Zoom, N.A., A.A. In-person and Virtual Meetings, Mental Health Resources, Keeping Busy During Down Time, etc.). The packet was created with a lens of compassion to defeat social isolation and inequality for having a limited barrier of technological access while in recovery from SUDs.

While creating a comprehensive list of resources, it was appropriate to create a survey to gauge how effective and helpful a resource of this scale would be to clients. As a result, the survey composed of two questions on access and knowledge of resources was asked to two separate classes. There is confirmation that 60% of those suffering from SUDs, also suffer from social isolation and social inequality. The intended future use of the resource packet is for clients to receive a packet in their “welcome binder” to look over while in quarantine or social isolation. While the client is attending treatment services, the interactive pieces of the packet are intended to be filled in so it sustains it’s future use by the client.
