Project Portfolio Description

Parenting Now is an organization located in Lane County that provides an array of services for parents and families. The agency provides parenting education, classes, and resources such as free car seats for parents. They hope to provide the local community, as well as the global community of parents and educators, the best tools and resources to create a nurturing environment for all children. Parenting Now hopes to help all families and parents regardless of structure, identity, socioeconomic status or cultural background.

My senior project was to include an LGBTQIA+ section of resources in the comprehensive resource guide Parenting Now creates and distributes each year. Additionally, this list can be used for future material and reference for staff. Providing a list of local agencies, any parent or family member identifying in the LGBTQIA+ community will have easy accessibility to these resources, or any caregiver raising a child in the community resources. Parenting Now will improve their outreach for families with any LGBTQIA+ identity and educate staff on local services and agencies. For future use and sustainability, this list serves as a base for including in next year’s guidebook, including proper contact information.
