Project Portfolio Description

Relief Nursery’s mission statement proposes the prevention of the child abuse and neglect cycle. Relief Nursery works on the prevention of the child abuse and neglect cycle through an early intervention curriculum that builds successful and strong children and families.  Relief Nursery supports low-income families by providing a therapeutic early childhood program, mental health, and outreach services. The project targeted the site’s mission statement on building successful and resilient children by creating booklets to help regulate feelings.

White and Latinx children aged 3-5 were involved in creating a booklet with photos of themselves demonstrating different feelings. With the photos of themselves, the children learned to identify their feelings daily. The project can be reused with returning Preschool Promise students. Future interns or volunteers will have the opportunity to take new pictures for new incoming Preschool Promise students.
