August: Summer or Fall?

Either way, you can have it all!

  1. From August 9th-12th, Junction City is hosting the 58th annual Scandinavian Festival! Admission is free for all and the fair features three stages with various performances, fair food, vendors with unique crafts, and trolls and vikings strolling through the streets!
  2.  August 14th is family day at the farmer’s market, allowing kids the opportunity to be superheroes for a day! The Exploration Station will provide microscopes and other tools to use super eyestrength to investigate insects, plants and seeds. Whiteaker Printmakers will bring an etching press so kids can transfer their drawings of favorite superheroes into an original print. STOP DROP & YOGA will lead a class to train children and adults so they can fly like raptors and grow taller than trees. Through recycled materials, MECCA will help kids create their own superhero accessories Other activities include giant chess, an imagination station, scavenger hunts, a bike-powered smoothie blender and a ladybug release.
  3. If you’re still feeling like enjoying summer time perks, movies in the park are a must see, here’s where you can catch them for free:

    August 3 – La Misma Luna (en español) at Monroe Park

    August 4 – Wonder Woman at Bethel Community Park

    August 10 – Lilo & Stitch at State Street Park

    August 11 – Breakfast at Tiffany’s at Sladden Park

    August 17 – Ratatouille at Trainsong Park

    August 18 – Black Panther at University Park
