My name is Sam Gorelik and I am a senior studying psychology at the University of Oregon. Outside of school some of my major hobbies include hiking and backpacking.
My favorite place that I have ever backpacked was in the Talkeetna Mountains in the southern part of Alaska. It was the most challenging trip that I ever went on but I also got to see the most beautiful views that I have ever seen.
This mountain range is really meaningful to me because when I look back at pictures, I remember every hardship that we faced to be able to see all these views. Because we were so far off from any trails, every time we walked to a new place it really felt like we were the first people to discover that lake or that mountain or whatever other formations we found, and that’s another thing that made this trip so meaningful.
