My favorite place is Monterey, California. It is a small fishing town by the ocean, a little bit away from Big Sur, a surfing town. I lived there for a little while when I was little, and my first memories are there. I remember the street name my house was on, the barking of the seals that always lounges on the shore, and sound of the waves and the otters. This place is so important to me because it holds my first and some of my most fond memories. It was a time when my sister was still living in the house (she’s eight years older than me), and everything just seemed quieter. This place, still, holds the same feeling as it did. I am always so ecstatic to go there, they have my favorite hoagie place and sock shop. Their marine life is protected through the aquarium. You can always smell the salt in the air and hear the rustle of the eucalyptus, and on the drive up, you can smell it too. It’s only a few hours away from my grandparents and my aunts house. The sand dunes are nearby, and there are many trails to run on while looking out at the sea. I always loved the tide pools, seeing all the crabs and starfish, imagining myself as a sea otter attached to the seaweed. I used to go to the best park ever, the Dennis the Menace park, and everything was huge. Going back, the park is much smaller, but the emotions it bring about are just as big. Monterey is the city that I envision myself ending up in, a small coastal town that’s not too hot and not too cold, and has just enough rain to keep the plants growing.

The tide pools!! I used to love playing around and looking at all the little critters

THE SEA OTTERS I couldn’t talk correctly I guess when I was super little so I called them “sea daughters”
