Lavarone was a great place to visit and end our trip before heading to Rovereto. Something I definitely noticed was how different the landscape was here in Lavarone compared to the rickety, tall mountains that we had explored the prior 10 days. Here it was more hilly, and included a little town, similar to Cavalese in a way, but smaller.

We got to visit a multitude of museums and forts, monuments and a cemetery, the cows, and of course the trenches and pastures on the Asiago hillside.

As we rounded the near end of the trip, it was interesting to see how far we’ve come in experiencing history come to life as we could walk through the trenches, walk through the corridors of dead soldiers, and reflect on everything we have learned throughout the summer and the past weeks of exploration.

Plus, I have to include the incredible karaoke night that came about with the choir kids and the local youth group. It was fun to hang out with everyone, be silly and do random performances with the karaoke, and just laugh together as a great way to close out the evening in Lavarone.

Three of the many cows that we visited. It was fun to hold out the hay for them and watch as they tried to grab it from our hands!

The beautiful hillside right outside the Fort we visited with Karl. He made the tour very engaging as he assigned us each a role we had to play as he told the stories and history, helping us better understand what would go on inside and outside of the fort.

Our adorable group making cheese at farm Soto al Croz.

Singing “Country Roads” super loud like silly Americans. The choir kids had voices 100x better than this crew 🙂
