Valsugana

The Day we visited the lake was also the day we visited the Italian fort guided by two historians. As this was our rest day, we began by having lunch at the lake. But before we could eat we all wanted to take a dip in the lake. It was really cold but it felt good as my muscles were sore from the previous day’s hike. It was a day of leisure and learning. The only negative aspect of this day was that we had to wait a bit for Mateo (our bus driver) to pick us up after our lunch on the lake.

My phone died on this day so I was unable to capture the pretty views from the Italian fort where we learned about their “secret” light comunication.

Lavarone

Lavarone was a cute town where we stayed in a very accommodating hotel with a not-so-hot hot tub. On our first day in this town, we took a small walk from our hotel to the cow farm where we met baby cows and milk-producing cows. At this farm, we learned the patient skill of making homemade cheese using very few tools. It was almost magic as our cheeses thickened and looked more and more like cheese!

Here I am on the dairy farm next to some adult cows who were hungry!

These newborn cows were so cute! The guide had a really good relationship with them which showed the humane side of a farm like this one in Lavarone.

I had a great time in Lavarone and Valsugana! Both had good food, good education, and good cows!
