Popular Places in Marion County

Mount Tamalpais

The valleys in this picture lead down into Muir Woods, an old growth Redwood forest. The mountain, commonly referred to as Mt. Tam by locals, is an icon of Marin County and host to many well-worn hiking trails.

Bolinas Ridge

Bolinas Ridge, pictured on the left is one of Marin’s most popular places for hiking and watching the sunset. It’s located off the Panoramic Highway which wraps its way through the trees and around the western side of Mt. Tam. It’s most notable for its rolling hills that sit above the fog bank. In the springtime, the vibrant green hills are spotted with California Golden Poppies.

Sausalito Marina

Pictured on the left is a houseboat neighborhood in the Sausalito marina. The houseboats are famous in the community for their beautiful colors, unique architectural design and beautiful potted gardens on the docks. The lagoons between the neighborhoods are often full of kayakers and paddle boarders playing in the tide This neighborhood is just a quick bike ride from my childhood home and has a wonderful view of Mt. Tam.
