June 3rd, 2017 – ZipLine Adventure

If you like adventure and thrills, you’re gonna love this!  ExplOregon is headed to Rogue Valley ZipLine Adventures on Saturday June 3rd for a bit of Zip-Line fun!  Join us as we fly high above the treetops as we zoom down one of the longest zip-lines in the Pacific Northwest.  With 5 lines to ride and totaling over 1,600 feet of of line- this trip is sure to get your juices flowing and your heart racing.  Not only that! But after we finish up at Rogue Valley we will make our way to the only In-N-Out Burger in the state!  In-N-Out Burger is a West Coast favorite and a must do whenever you are near Medford!  Unfortunately, spots are limited so do not wait to sign up!

Schedule: Please meet in front of the REC Center by 9:30am to take a private charter bus to the Rogue Valley ZipLine Adventures.  We should arrive at the facility around 12:30pm and will embark on our adventure from 1:00pm to 4:00pm.  After we finish up at Rogue Valley we will head down the road to Medford to go to the one and only In-N-Out Burger for some top notch food!  We will leave from Medford around 6:00pm and will make it back to campus around 8:30pm.

May 27th, 2017 – Water Rafting

Join explOregon on an adventure up the nearby McKenzie river for a fun day whitewater rafting! We will be guided by Ron’s Guide Services and will have room for up 48 people.

Cost: $25.00 (includes ride to/from river, lunch & 3-4 hours of water rafting)

When: Saturday, May 27th

Time: 8:30am-4:30pm

Schedule: Please meet in front of Rec Center at 8:30am on Saturday, May 20th. The bus will leave at 8:45am and arrive at the McKenzie river location around 10:00am. After a short safety talk we will suit up and hit the water. There will be a short lunch break from 12:00pm to 1:00pm. After lunch we will set back out on the water, with the river ride ending about 2 hours later around 3-3:30pm. When all is said and done we should be back to campus by 4:30pm.img_0916

What to bring: Please pack lightly as you will not need much on the trip. We discourage you from bringing expensive camera or other expensive valuables that may be damaged if wet. A few dry bags for wallets, rings, phones and watches will be available but please bring as little as possible. Please bring your own water bottle (we will also have water if needed). Do not wear jeans and regular shoes as they can become VERY VERY COLD when wet. It is best to wear nylon tops/jackets and bottoms. Sandals or river shoes are best for your feet. A change of clothes left on the bus for you when we end the trip is probably a good idea.

May 20th, 2017 – Skinner’s Butte Hike

The weather is nice, term is almost over its time to explore two important spots of Eugene: Skinner Butte and 5th Street Market!  Skinner Butte trail is an easy hike to the top and can be hiked in 30mins to 60mins round trip.  It is the perfect spot for a scenic view of the valley and downtown Eugene.  Then after the hike come with us to visit a few local shops and grab a bite to eat in the 5th Street market district.  So join us this Saturday for sun, fun and hiking!

When: Saturday May 20th, 2017

Schedule: Meet in front of the Duck Store (corner of Kincaid and E 13th Ave) by 9:30am and we will take the public bus to Skinner Butte Park arriving at the park by 10:05am.  The hike should take between 30-60 minutes to finish round trip.  Once we get to the top there is plenty of scenery to take pictures of and explore with your friends.  After we finish the hike we will walk over to the 5th Street Market district to explore some of the unique shops and stores and don’t forget to grab a bite to eat while you are there!  The group will make it back to campus by 2:30pm but of course, you may leave the trip any time you wish.

What to Bring:  bring comfortable shoes and water, a camera, telescope, binoculars, money for any food, souvenirs, and any other things you wish to buy.

April 21st, 2017 – Ducks vs. Stanford Baseball

Come relax with ExplOregon Friday April 12th as we take in the great American Pastime Baseball.  Come with us as we cheer along our Ducks Baseball team will as they battle against our PAC-12 rivals the Stanford Cardinals.  It is free to everyone with a UO I.D. card – to be shown at the ticket gate.

Schedule: Meet in front of McKenzie Hall by 5:25pm to take the public bus, which leaves at 5:38PM.  We will  arrival at PK Park around 5:45pm. If the weather is nice we may choose to walk or you are free to meet us there if you wish.  Game starts at 6:00pm and should end around 8:30pm.  We will return to the Campus around 9:00pm.

What to Bring:  comfortable clothes, money for any food, souvenirs, and any other things you wish to buy.

April 15th, 2017 – Tulip Festival & Woodburn Outlets

Join us at this year’s Tulip Festival where you can stroll through 40 acres of stunningly beautiful of flowers, expansive views of vineyards, distant mountains. Then Let’s spend the afternoon shopping at the Woodburn Shopping Outlets one of the top shopping locations in Oregon & Washington!

Schedule: Please meet in front of the  REC Center at 8:40am, we will depart from campus at 9:00am and arrive at the Tulip Festival in Woodburn Oregon around 10:30am.  After a few hours taking in the beautiful scenery we will then make our way to the Woodburn Premium Outlets at 12:00pm for lunch and a few hours shopping.  We will return to the Rec Center by 5:00pm.

What to Bring: comfortable clothes, money for shopping, food, souvenirs and any other items you wish to purchase.

Feb. 26th, 2017 – Snow Day

Are you ready to hit the slopes? Join ExplOregon as we make our way to Willamette Pass Ski Resort with us and enjoy your choice of snow activities including: Skiing, Snowboarding, Snow Shoeing or just spending some time playing in the snow.

Oct. 8th, 2016 – Youth Farms, Food For Lane County

garden2Join ExplOregon this Saturday as we make our way to the Youth Farm for a few hours of volunteering for the nonprofit organization Food for Lane County.  Youth Farm is a 5 acre urban educational farm and a work experience site for youth. Each year, community volunteers assist staff in growing over 100,000 pounds of organic produce, learning while growing. Each summer, a crew of teens works at the farm where they receive job skills and training in gardening, leadership, financial management and nutrition while growing food for FFLC and for a 70+ member Community Supported Agriculture Program and two produce stands.  So join ExplOregon as we work to give back to our community at Youth Farms.

Schedule: Please meet at Oregon Hall by 12:25pm so that we can catch the Emx bus from Agate Station near campus.  The bus will take us to the Food for Lane County Youth Farms located in Springfield Oregon, we should get there at about 1:00pm. We will head back to campus at 4:00pm and should be back to campus around 4:35pm.

What to Bring: Comfortable clothes, Water bottle or a Snack.

Sept. 19th, 2016 – UO Women’s Soccer Game

Women Soccer 4Join explOregon for the first event of the new year as we make our way to watch the UO Women’s Soccer team on Monday September 19th.  Cheering on our world class athletes is an important part of the Oregon experience, so join us as we cheer on our women warriors as they take on Portland!

Schedule: Please meet in front of McKenzie Hall by 5:20PM.  We will then walk over to UO Station Bay [F] to get on the 79x Kinsrow bus which will leave at 5:27PM.  We should arrive at Pape Field by 5:45PM.  The game starts at about 6:00PM and will end around 7:30pm.  We will return to campus by 8:00PM but you may leave the game any time you wish.
