Ice Skating

When in doubt, skate it out! Glide into the day with us on Saturday, 2/23 for a fun afternoon of ice skating at The Rink Exchange. Beginner or expert, we’ll guarantee you’ll have an ice day! 😉

COST:

Non-students and Scholars – $5

NOTE: Ticket prices DOES NOT include The Rink Exchange admission ticket and equipment rental. Admission tickets for students are $6 and equipment rental is an additional $3. You can find out more here.

SCHEDULE: Meet in front of the REC Center by 11:15 AM, We will be leaving campus at 11:30 AM and arrive at The Rink Exchange at around 12:00 PM. We are allowed to skate from 12:15 PM  till 1:45 PM. We will head back to Eugene at around 2:00 PM and make it back to campus at around 2:30 PM.

What to Bring: Wear comfortable warm clothes. Bring helmet or other safety devices if you need it. And money for food or drinks (it’s not OK to bring your own).

Spencer Butte Hike

Join us as we head to one of Eugene’s most popular hiking destinations – Spencer Butte! Hike to the top with us and enjoy the beautiful views this butte has to offer!

COST:

Domestic, International, Exchange Students – $2

Non-Students and Scholars – $9

SCHEDULE:

Please meet in front of the REC Center at 10 am, we will depart from campus at 10:15 am. We should arrive to Spencer’s Butte around 10:30 am, and ascend on our hike at 10:45 am. This hike is relatively easy and should take our group approximately 1 hour to reach the top. Once at the top we’ll have a bit of time to relax, enjoy the view, take some pictures, and make it back to the bottom by 1:30 pm. We will be back on campus by 2 pm.

WHAT TO BRING: Comfortable shoes, comfortable clothes, water bottle, food/snack, phone/camera for pictures.

Trampoline Park

Looking forward to spring? Get ready to jump out of winter term because we’re headed to Defy Eugene . Join us for our last event of the term on Thursday, March 7.

Defy Gravity at one of the Coolest Facilities in America.  The park features over 35 trampolines, including the famous angled wall trampolines, launching decks and a few other surprises for your enjoyment in a 30,000 square foot facility, including:

SCHEDULE: Meet in front of the Rec Center by 5:45PM, We will be leaving campus at 6PM and arrive at Defy Eugene by 6:30 PM. We will begin jumping at 7PM after a short brief. We will end our session at 8PM and head back to the Rec Center.

What to Bring: Wear comfortable clothes that allow for full motion.

Snow Day

Are you ready to hit the slopes? Join ExplOregon as we make our way to Mt. Bachelor where you can enjoy your choice of snow activities: skiing, snowboarding, tubing or playing in the snow!

COST: International/Domestic/Exchange Student – $5

Non-students and Scholars – $20

NOTE: Lift tickets, rental of equipment, and lessons are NOT included in ticket prices. Click HERE for lift ticket pricing, click HERE for equipment rental rates, and click HERE for lesson pricing. Alternatively, you may want to visit Berg’s Ski Shop or UO’s Outdoor Program Rental Barn for equipment rental.

SCHEDULE: We will meet at the University of Oregon’s Student Recreation Center (Rec Center) at 5:30am, and leave for Mt. Bachelor at 5:45am, and arrive at approximately 8:30am. You will be free to rent equipment and enjoy available activities until 4pm. Rented equipment have to be returned by 4:00pm.We will leave Mt. Bachelor at 4:15pm, and arrived back at the Rec Center at around 7pm.

THINGS TO BRING: Please wear comfortable clothes and bring along waterproof clothes appropriate for snow activities. Bring money for the lift ticket, rental of equipment, lessons, food and water, and any other items you may wish to purchase.

NOTE: Arrangements could be made to leave at 4:15 PM ONLY IF you email exploregon@uoregon.edu by Monday. February 11th, 12 PM. Please note that depending on traffic conditions, leaving at 4:15 PM may result in missing some parts of the game.

Oregon Zoo

Sunday, February 3

Join ExplOregon Sunday, February 3rd as we head up to Portland for the Oregon Zoo. The Oregon Zoo is a Portland gem and a must see for any animal lover. It is also an active advocate in protecting wildlife around the world. Sign up today and don’t forget to tell yours friends!

SCHEDULE: Meet in front of the REC Center by 9:30 AM, the vans will be leaving campus at 10. We will arrive at the Zoo by 12:00 PM and will have approximately three hours at the zoo to check out all of the animal exhibits. We will head back to Eugene around 4:00 PM and arrive at campus around 6:00 PM.

WHAT TO BRING: Make sure to dress warm as we will be walking outside for majority of the trip, money for food and souvenirs, camera/phone to take pictures.

Silver Falls

Many call Silver Falls the “crown jewel” of the Oregon, and once you visit, you’ll know why! Join explOregon as we visit this incredible place and take a moderate hike through nature. This is a great opportunity to take of photos of the beautiful scenery!

COST:

International/Domestic/Exchange Students – $2

Non-students and Scholars – $15

SCHEDULE: Please meet in front of the REC Center by 8:45am. We will leave campus at 9 am and should arrive at the Silver Falls trailhead by 10:30am.  After our hike we will have a lunch break before heading back to Eugene. We will arrive on campus around 4pm.

THINGS TO BRING: Water proof jacket, hat and warm clothes, hiking boots – or a sturdy pair of shoes, thick socks, cold weather gear and any appropriate gear for long nature walks. Bring your own drinks and snacks, and a light backpack or fanny pack to hold personal items such as: phone, camera or wallet, and money for lunch.

Trapdoor Escape Room

Thursday, January 17

Join explOregon as we attempt to escape the Mystic’s Lair at the Trapdoor right here in town.

What is the Mystic’s Lair? It is an enclosed room where we will be given 1 hour to figure out how to escape.  All the clues, and tools that we’ll need to solve the puzzles and mysteries will be in the room with us. We will have to rely on teamwork, focus, and savvy to solve the puzzle. Sounds interesting? Join us!

COST: International/Domestic/Exchange Students – $10

SCHEDULE: Please meet in front of the University of Oregon Student Recreation Center (REC center) at 6:15pm We will leave at 6:30pm and arrive at the Trapdoor facility by approximately 6:45pm. We will be at the facility from 6:45pm and until we escape at approximately 8:45pm. We will return to campus by 9pm.

What to Bring:  Comfortable clothes/shoes, money for any food or souvenirs & any other things you wish to buy.

Sahalie Falls and Belknap Hot Springs

Tired of shivering from all of this cold weather? Warm up with us at the Belknap Hot Springs. We will be taking a day away from campus and enjoying the breathtaking beauty of the Oregon Cascades. First a short hike to Sahalie Falls and then a relaxing dip in to the natural pools at Belknap Hot Springs. Even better…this trip is FREE!

COST: 

International/Domestic/Exchange Students – FREE

Non-students and Scholars – $20

NOTE: If you would like to use the hot springs, day use charges apply.

$8.00 for one hour or less (Shower and Bathroom Facilities)
$15.00 per day per person. $2.00 pool towel available.

SCHEDULE: We will meet at the University of Oregon’s Student Recreation Center (Rec Center) at 9:45am, and leave for Sahalie Falls at 10am. After spending some time at the falls, we will go for lunch (location TBD), and then head to Belknap Hot Springs, Lodge and Garden. You are free to use the hot springs or rest up in the lounge. We will leave the hot springs around 4pm, and arrive back at the REC center by 6pm.

In the event of bad weather, we will be going to Belknap Hot Springs, Lodge and Garden, having lunch, and heading back to the REC center at about 2pm.

THINGS TO BRING: Please wear comfortable clothes and shoes for the hike. Bring water, and money for food. If you would like to use the hot springs please bring extra money, appropriate swimwear, a towel and an extra set of clothes.

SCHEDULE:

We will meet in front of the REC Center by 8:45 AM, and leave campus at 9:00 AM. We will arrive at Portland’s Pioneer Square at approximately 11:00 – 11:15 AM. We will spend time shopping in Portland till 2:30 PM. Once we are done, we will head to the Woodburn Premium Outlets where you will have a few hours to do some shopping or grab a bite to eat. We will head back to campus at approximately 7:00 PM with the plan to arrive on campus at 9:00 PM.

WHAT TO BRING: Money for food, souvenirs, Portland public transportation, and any other items you wish to purchase.
