Japanese Student Organization is a student group at the University of Oregon. We focus on spreading Japanese culture to UO students as well as to local communities. Our mission is to connect Japanese international students to domestic students at the University of Oregon and vice versa to create a cultural exchange. We want to help develop a diverse community of cultural understanding and global awareness. We also strive to cultivate a safe space for all members.
They host general meetings, some trips outside of the campus, and also host an annual cultural event, Japan Night which hosts around 250 people with cultural performances, food, games, and prizes!
Japan Night consisted of Japanese traditional performances like the Koto, Taiko, Kendo, tea ceremony demonstration, and some urban cultural performances like dancing and singing as well as fun interactive games to win a prize.
