Presentations

You can submit an abstract to present a poster or to be considered for a talk. There are a limited number slots for speaking, and talks will be chosen based on general interest and order of registration. We are looking to achieve a balance among faculty, postdoc, and student presentations, but a goal of EVO-WIBO from the very beginning has been to present very high quality talks. Only presentations that present results, and not proposals for work, will be chosen for talks. We encourage faculty to contact the scientific organizer (Bill Cresko) to nominate students and postdocs for platform talks. You will be notified as to whether you are presenting a talk at the latest by April 1st, 2014.

Abstracts

Your ‘abstract’ should be submitted as a text document (e.g. Microsoft Word, Pages or plain text) through the registration page. The document should contain the following in this order to be considered for a talk, but only 1 and 3 to present a poster (The three sentences are not needed for a poster):

  1. Title of the presentation.
  2. Three sentence description of the talk focus and major findings.
  3. List of all authors & affiliations with presenting author indicated.

All presenters should submit an ‘abstract’ regardless of speaking preference so that we titles, names and affiliations of all contributors.

Talks

Talks will be 15 minutes in length, including the question period. There will be only one session at a time that will occur in the Commons at Fort Worden. Depending upon interest we are contemplating having a lightning talk (~5 min) session to quickly convey a single major finding. If you are interested in presenting a lightning talk contact Bill Cresko.

A computer projector attached to a Mac Powerbook will be provided with all major presentation software (Powerpoint, Keynote and Adobe). A foolproof way to save a presentation is as a PDF.

Posters

We will have two poster sessions on Saturday, each over an hour long, that overlap with the coffee breaks. The coffee will be set up in the same room as the posters to draw everyone in. By preference, posters will be set up Friday night upon arrival.

Each presenter will be allocated a section of wall or an easel. Please make your poster fit within 4 feet of width. Please bring your poster as a single piece of paper so that it may be attached to the wall with as few pieces of adhesive as possible. We will provide the adhesive, as we cannot damage the paint on the walls. Please note that as a condition of the state park no push-pins will be allowed.
