How it Started:
The UO Esports Program began in 2017 with a small group of League of Legends enthusiasts. It quickly grew beyond a single game, attracting students interested in a wide range of competitive titles and roles, from coaches and broadcasters to marketers and analysts. In 2018, the club expanded into the Gaming Club, encompassing diverse gaming interests across campus. With the program’s rapid growth, a dedicated esports lounge opened in January 2020, featuring high-end gaming PCs and consoles. Today, the UO Esports Program includes several varsity titles, a thriving online community with over 2,200 members, and numerous opportunities for professional connections and learning in the esports industry.
