The Sinclairs fulfill just about every trope of a nuclear sitcom family…except that they are dinosaurs.
In one of the most intense moments of 90s television history, this series ends with an impending Dinopogenic ice age about to wipe everyone out: a dinosaur corporation destroys the habitat of a bug that eats a vine, so they spray herbicide that wipes out all plant life, so they try to create rain, which creates certain doom.
The AV club says about this episode that it “delivered as blunt an environmental message as any major network TV broadcast since The Lorax.”
I recommend the whole episode (and the whole series, really) but the last 3-4 min is where it gets really depressing.
“Changing Nature.” Dinosaurs. Season 4, episode 7. ABC, 1994.
Yeesh! I remember watching this show as a dinosaur-obsessed child. I did not remember the “dinopogenic ice age” at the end.
