This NPR podcast series is about various facets of race issues in America and this particular episode focuses on varying experiences with and concepts of nature as related to race.

Interesting points include:
- Nature can be a solace for immigrants because it is freer from language, culture, etc?
- Rules in some outdoor spaces send implicit messages about who belongs there. (And many spaces used to have explicit segregation.)
- The elitism involved in how much it can cost to recreate outdoors, from park fees to necessary gear
- Obesity and diabetes rates are highest among certain minority populations in the US and it sounds like making biking, hiking, and swimming not just “things that white people do” could close that gap.
