In my research to discover issues of ethnocentrism in Bangladesh, my research came up very inconclusive. In my past research into Bangladesh however, I’ve come to discover that the primary demonstration of ethnocentrism in Bangladesh and conflict regarding ethnocentric issues have emerged over the topic of language. One of the contributing factors to the formation of Bangladesh in 1971 was the attempt of a forced institution of Urdu as the primary language by the West Pakistanis. Though the language was only spoken by around 10% of the people, they believed it to be superior, thus resulting in conflict. There has also been ethnocentric-like conflict over modern-day languages in Bangladesh. Other than this, it has been difficult to find any other information over ethnocentrism in Bangladesh.
