The CSD design is a fully asynchronous instructional model where a series of instructor prepared video case studies serve as the basis for delivering course content. The CSD is a fully asynchronous model, and the only fully asynchronous model employed in the EMPL suite of four modern instructional designs. Case study has been selected as the asynchronous format for EMPL due to research findings regarding the efficacy of self-directed learning during CSD approaches generally, and due to the nature of EMPL courses, content and learners.
