Journal #19
I had a great time with Thursdays guest Kris Krikeby. I loved all the interactive parts of her time with us. I never would have thought that it was so hard to draw and imagine an image based off of someone trying to describe the object to us and it really showed the real purpose of scientific illustrators. It was so much fun to draw what we thought we felt in a bag because it was so hard to figure out every little detail of this object especially because the objects she had given us was something foreign to us and confusingly shaped. My favorite part of the day was the butterflies. When I was younger I had a bunch of plastic butterflies a lot of them were the same types she had and I was always fascinated by all the different patterns and capabilities of camouflage they had. It was a fun challenge to draw these creatures. They are all so unique which makes for a difficult time drawing the exact shape and colorization of their wings but it was a great time trying to draw and shade these butterflies as accurately as possible.
