WWR is owned by Jim and Jane Russell, located in Leaburg, Oregon at the foothills of the Cascades and adjacent to the McKenzie River. The ranch is a total of 1,800 acres and is positioned on three miles of the McKenzie Riverbank. WWR specializes in growing and cultivating the surrounding land sustainably through low impact farming practices. To employees, managers, and owners alike, WWR upholds sustainable values by striving to maintain the health and biodiversity of Goose Creek as a greater part of the McKenzie River Watershed. We maintained pilot projects on the eastern portion of Goose Creek and followed monitoring protocols developed by previous teams. Upholding the goal of restored biodiversity within the context and values of WWR is quantified through surveys of vegetation, pollinators, stream temperature, and aquatic macroinvertebrates. Considering Jim and Jane Russell’s vision to restore the riparian area along Goose Creek, and in culmination with past ELP efforts, the 2018 Riparian Restoration team has worked to increase the health of the watershed through riparian monitoring and management methods.
