After completing the life values assessment I believe my top 5 values are: family, loyalty, friendship, health, and security. I reflected on all my strengths and weaknesses, goals, and current accomplishments to come to what I believe I value most. Family is something that is extremely important to me. My mom is my rock and I always count on her to help me with her guidance and support. I talk to her everyday. She is always there when I need her for any reason and will drop anything to make sure I’m all right. My second value, loyalty is also something I value in my daily life. As a member of my sorority, one of our core values is loyalty. We believe that it is always important to stay true and loyal to the ones you care about most. I keep this in mind and make my decisions based on these morals. My third value is friendship. Having good friendships is something that I believe everyone should experience in their lives. Currently, my closest friends are people I can rely on no matter what and will help and support me when I need it. My fourth value is health. I am constantly at the gym and trying to eat foods with good nutrition to improve and maintain my health. Finally, security is another value of mine. Security can come in many forms, i.e. monetarily, physically, etc. I always try to make good choices based on what is safe and keeps me secure. For instance, I save my money and lock my doors at night.
I think that all five of my belief patterns definitely are inherited in certain respects from my family. I value the same things that my family values and I think that they have influenced what I value a great deal. However, I think that there is also an element of growth that I have had as an individual that has shaped my belief patterns in my own ways. Being on my own in college and learning what I care about most has impacted how I view the world as a freethinking individual. As I approach graduation, some goals I have for myself are to continue pursuing my passions even in the workforce. I am currently a very active, passionate person. I want to make sure I cultivate my curiosities even past graduation and continue to try new things.
