Current Progress
At this point, each of our groups has completely finished our lesson plans.
Lesson 1 has built a lesson that consists of riddles, YouTube videos, number talks, and building with legos. It should take roughly one class period (60ish minutes) to complete and will give students the skills and abilities they need to use multiple algorithms to solve solutions.
Lesson 2 has a direct instruction portion with guided instruction where the teacher shows the students what Ed scratch even is and the basics they will need to use it. Then there is an exploration section where the students get to have hands-on play with the Edison robots and get to really explore what they can do with them. This lesson is made just to get students comfortable with Edison and Scratch coding. This should take about one to two class periods (60-120ish) minutes to complete with students.
Lesson 3 will consist of taking the past two lessons and building a final project that shows that the students understood what they learned in the last two to three class periods. Students will use Edison robots to move an object from one position to another. The catch is that they will be in groups, and each group member will have to come up with a DIFFERENT way of moving the object (thus building multiple algorithms to complete a single task). This lesson will consist of a half period where they have the project explained to them and where they can ask any questions and then four and a half periods where they get to completely work as their group to figure out how to accomplish the task.
What is next?
Next, we will be working towards actually doing the lesson plans that we have made. By next Monday (3/4/2024) we will each have completed lesson one AND lesson two, as well as have ideas as to what we are doing for lesson three. By next Wednesday, we should have a solid idea of how each team member will move their object and have already made decent progress on it.
