Romania’s Ethnic Groups

What is an endangered culture?

The phrase “endangered cultures and languages” refers to indigenous societies’ threatened extinction of these. Endangered species was first mentioned in print in 1990. Endangerment occurs when society’s youth are unable or unwilling to learn and use their traditional language and culture. Various factors, particularly colonialization and globalization, can contribute to this. To encourage research, lists of endangered languages exist, but these lists do not include all endangered cultures. There are no similar lists for cultures. Cultural endangerment has similar causes to language endangerment, but the social impact is different. Computers and the internet are a major source of danger in the early twenty-first century.

What are the different races in Romania?

The population of Romania is roughly 22M people. Romanians of ethnic origin make up 83.4% of the country’s population. The remainder of the population is made up of Hungarians, Romani, Ukrainians, Germans, and others. Romanian is the official language of the country, and 85.4% of the population speaks it. Hungarian is spoken by 6.3% of the population, while Romani is spoken by 1.2%. Eastern Orthodox Christians account for 81.9% of the Romanian population. Protestant Christians, Roman Catholics, atheists, and others make up roughly 12% of the total population.

Why is diversity important?

There is no doubt that as the world rapidly globalizes, diversity is becoming more prevalent in all aspects of life. Diversity and a multicultural environment, which include gender, race, ethnicity, and socioeconomic background, are important for a variety of reasons, the most important of which is the variety of perspectives they provide. Businesses are the first to reap the benefits of having a multicultural workplace; the benefits of cultural diversity and inclusion have been quantifiably positive. The modern world’s interconnectedness is expanding our ability to communicate and integrate with people from different cultures. Cities, and even countries, are becoming increasingly multicultural, and ideas and values are being shared. Some countries now prefer to bring people from different countries to study and do research for economical and scientific development. In conclusion, different nationalities and cultures bring different perspectives and ideas that could push any country forward.
