Kenya is a very multicultural country with over 40 different ethnic groups that make up the whole country. With Kenya having so much rich culture they have encountered a lot of problems with ethnocentrism. Some of Kenya’s ethnocentrism problems were not started up by its citations but rather by their government. The government while they were under British rule Separated the majority ethnic groups into sections. They started to favor the bigger groups and didn’t keep up with some of the smaller ones. This left Kenya in major poverty not only for the smaller groups, but now the rest of them too. Because of the government starting this ethnic war so long ago it has continued with ethnic groups nowadays. Instead of combining knowledge and being able to live happily, some ethnic groups have developed this one-up culture. The only thing that this has done for us is tear us apart. What I’ve noticed is that it’s not these ethnic group’s fault this war started long ago under people that wanted them to fight. This isn’t something Kenya is or was facing alone; a few other African countries have been exposed to ethnocentrism within their country. Some others include Chad, Nigeria, Rwanda, Sudan and Zimbabwe, and there’s many other countries in the rest of Africa that are facing this problem and I’m sure it’s the same with not just African countries.
